King Road Kofa National Wildlife Refuge
King Road | Kofa National Wildlife Refuge – Quartzsite, AZ

Scenic mountains make for a spectacular backdrop and saguaro and teddy bear cholla abound. Thoroughly enjoyed our boondocking stay at the King Road BLM. – LivingOurDreamNow

Bahia Honda State Park

We love this campground we have stayed in site # 14 and 19 both. Both are on the water where the Atlantic Ocean & the Gulf meet. – Justchillin

Magazine Branch Lake Access Nantahala National Forest
Magazine Branch Lake Access | Nantahala National Forest – Tapoco, NC

Brookfield Smokey Mountain Hydropower operates these sites and they are free. We stayed in our van overnight and nobody else came into the area until the early morning locals arrive for fishing. – EricS

Grand Isle State Park

Beautiful and very peaceful and quiet. We saw dolphins several times while walking in the beach. – Tomorrow is today

Buckhorn Recreation Area

I was here in early December, so it was empty. There were a total of about four other parties there. Talk about peaceful! And I actually caught fish, icing on the cake. – GlenSanMarcos

Jug Hollow Dispersed

There are many great camp sites all the way down the peninsula. Those farther up are frequented by the open range cattle. There is also a large herd of Pronghorn. – Lorraine

Lake Louisa State Park

Sites are located between two lakes which made for great walks, and canoe/kayak rentals were available on site. Definitely recommend! – mcrossi

Paisano Village RV Park & Inn

Best in Terlingua!! Newer RV park with great owners. We stayed one week in Dec 19 and came back 3 weeks later for another stay. – Hinton The Trail

The Steps State Trust Land
The Steps | State Trust Land – Lake Havasu City, AZ

Love our stay here! Nice hike to the lake, fun hunting for geodes and quartz and pretty sunsets. Roads are easy to get in and out. Big rig friendly. Not crowded and ample room. – Hitched N Hauling

Four Jeffery Campground

Have camped here twice and always enjoyed our stay. First visit was no reservation but still got a good site backing up to a creek, second time made reservation in able to score a better site in the aspens backing up to the creek. – Foth4

Romanita RV Park

We stayed for one night on our way to Cabo and was so impressed with its proximity to the historic district of Loreto we decided to stay two weeks on our way back north. – RVoutlawz

Sierra Vista Campground Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument

We got a great spot in the middle with lots of room. Ranger met with us the first night and gave us a public lands map. Over all we love this spot and will definitely be back. – ThoseHermitKids

McDowell Mountain Regional Park County Park
McDowell Mountain Regional Park | County Park – Scottsdale, AZ

Our camp spot, Site #58, had excellent views of the McDowell Mtns, bathrooms just across the way, and trailheads quickly accessible. We would definitely stay here again and will be sure to reserve ahead of time for next season. – TinPueblo

Samuel Taylor State Park Golden Gate National Recreation Area

The hiking in the SP is absolutely amazing and the Bear Valley visitor center in Point Reyes is wonderful!! We will for sure stay here again if in the area. – Family in Wanderland

Anza-Borrego Springs State Park is a true California gem. We spent four days there and didn’t want to leave. The location is nothing short of amazing. – Walkinghead


Pat Thomas Park | County Park – Quincy, FL

What a lovely spot! So gorgeous with the surrounding lake! And what a peaceful campground, not busy, we were 5 at the most. – Sanjo

This campground in the Chiricahua monument is a real hidden gem. The hikes are great. Lots of birds and animals. – AZTravelers
