5 Star Reviews – February 2016

By Campendium

Eighty four campgrounds received 5 star reviews in February. Check out some of the highlights below:

O’Leno State Park – High Springs, FL

We only stayed here one night, in route to Blue Spring State Park, but I wish I would have stayed longer! It was a beautiful park with tons of trails! – Joe Hendricks

Chino Hills State Park – Chino Hills, CA

This was a bit of surprise for us. The wife and I were looking for a place to go for the weekend that was relatively close to LA and we came upon this site. To be honest I was a bit reluctant to write a review but had to share! – Gallagher’s

Devils Garden Campground – Moab, UT

Site was fabulous. Rock formations IN our campsite! Kids were blown away. Short walk to one of the large arches. Really, we’ve never been anywhere like this and it was quite beautiful and alien all at the same time. – spamcanPDX

Bow Willow Creek Campground – Julian, CA

This is a great little campground nestled in the desert! It’s certainly on my list of places to go when in this area. – SubaruVagabond

Saddle Mountain – Tonopah, AZ

We decided to check this location out, after not finding too many reviews of it online to go by. And so glad we did. What a gem! – Technomadia

Long Key State Park – Layton, FL

At first, I didn’t think our spot was going to be “on the beach”, but every spot at Long Key is on the beach!! It was a little cold when we were there, but it was still amazing! – Joe Hendricks

White House Trailhead – Kanab, UT

It would make a fantastic place to tent camp in warmer weather, on nice cushy sand and nestled between the rocks. And it’s only $5! – bingedrifters

Big Black Mountain – Ramona, CA

This is my favorite spot I have found to date. The views to the west stretch all of western San Diego County. On a clear day, you can see clear over the Pacific Ocean, maybe even making out some of the islands out there! – SubaruVagabond

Manatee Hammock Campground – Titusville, FL

Lovely breezes off the water were rustling the tall pine and palm trees above us, there’s a great view of rocket launches or boats going by. We’ll be back! – Snowmads

Bermuda Flat – Tonto Basin, AZ

Great place to enjoy shoreline camping. Easy to get to camping area with beautiful sunsets. – MarcusJolaine

City of Rocks State Park – Faywood, NM

We just finished four nights at C of R, and it ranks at the top of our list of camping experiences. Each site is very unique and may take some scouting to find one that suits your rig. We had little difficulty with our 22-foot long van.- Chris&David

Eastbank Campground – Bainbridge, GA

We loved our stay at Eastbank. The sites are very generously sized, and the sites on the lake have amazing views. It was so peaceful and quiet and the perfect place to get away from it all. – ketah777

Black Canyon North, Mojave National Preserve – Essex, CA

If I could give this site more than 5 stars I would. From the 360-degree views, to the solitude, the amazing variety of interesting plants, the endless opportunities for exploring, the close proximity to a campground with water and a dump station, and the excellent price of FREE, it really doesn’t get much better than this. – WatsonsWander

Tongue River Campground – Parkman, WY

Another of our most memorable spots in our year of travel. For beautiful surroundings, it doesn’t get any better. – Carrie

Forest Road 687 – Tombstone, AZ

Some sites have trees for shade, camp right next to boulders, in grassy areas, or down in an oak grove, there are lots of choices. We would definitely stay here again because of the view and peace and quiet. – Robin
