One hundred sixty two campgrounds received 5 star reviews in July. Check out the highlights below:
Winslow Park & Campground – Freeport, ME
To call this a “city park” is like calling the Grand Canyon a big arroyo. Our site was on the Bay and well worth the $35 fee for the view. – gypsy1
Moyie River Road – Bonners Ferry, ID
If cell service was irrelevant, then this would be the coolest camp spot in the U.S. After landing here, you’ll forget you even own a phone. – jol31644
Azalea Campground, Kings Canyon National Park – Hume, CA
We loved the abundance of trees and the shrubbery to provide relative privacy between sites! We spent one day down in Sequoia and another day in Kings Canyon’s Cedar Grove area. – 4airstreamers
Oh Be Joyful Recreation Area – Crested Butte, CO
It’s a little rough going down but you’re rewarded with a nice large gravelled area to park or camp. All in all you couldn’t find a better place to camp unless you’re looking for something very secluded. – Jimi_G
Silver Springs Campground – Enumclaw, WA
Silver Springs Campground is a favorite for camping near Mt. Rainier. The campground is just beautiful, well-treed with several spring fed creeks running through the park. – Teddi & Roger
Forest Road 852 – Bayfield, CO
What really makes these sites special, however, are the spectacular views over Vallecito Reservoir and to the Weminuche Wilderness beyond. – String
Winchester Bay RV Resort – Winchester Bay, OR
I had a blast while we were here. The office gives you lots of info when you check in about what there is to do locally. We did a bunch of crabbing. I would definitely come back. – Rachel
Lost Creek State Park – Anaconda, MT
The campground sits in a narrow canyon with towering cliffs on either side, and has two streams that run along either side of the campground. Also there is a waterfall, and an excellent hiking trail going another four or five miles, along the creek, into the canyon. – Anthony Sherman
Willow Creek Road – Big Sur, CA
This was breathtaking. The spot I was in was more a park and then walk a few feet in to pitch a tent. There are a few spots up to 1/2 mile in that have ridiculous views of the ocean. – modemlooper
Rex Hale Campground – Cody, WY
This campground is only about 20 miles from Yellowstone in one direction and Cody in the other. The view was astounding! – Sgmensing
Tête d’Indien Camping – St-Georges-de-Malbaie, QC, Canada
Most sites offer some view of the ocean. Some sites can be exciting to get into, but worth the effort. Most of the larger sites are very nice with ocean overlooks. – Tomp
Washoe Lake State Park – Carson City, NV
Beautiful and Convenient to Carson City & Reno. It’s perfect for our needs: close to town and an escape into the outdoors for our after hours enjoyment. – M&M
Starrett Lake – Sayner, WI
Most of the sites were the most private ones we saw yet, due to the woods between them. So far this is our second favorite campsite with Two Medicine in Glacier National Park being number one. – Wander Wagon
Highline Loop Road – Martin City, MT
Dispersed Camping at it’s finest. If you’re looking for a peaceful and FREE campsite close to Glacier National Park, Whitefish, and Kalispell (45 minutes drive) look no further. – ModernDayDrifters
Vogel State Park – Blairsville, GA
The big draws here are the small lake for fishing, swimming, or (non-motorized) boating, and the several hiking trails that wind in and out of the park and through the adjoining National Forest. – BoxyColonial
Waterfowl Lakes Campground, Banff National Park – AB, Canada
This NP campground along the Icefields Parkway between Lake Louise and Jasper is one of the few available or open this summer (2016). It’s a gorgeous spot along the Bow River and the southern tip of Lower Waterfowls Lake. – Chris&David
Cass Lake – Cass Lake, MN
We enjoyed our stay immensely. The kayaking in the lake was fantastic, the forested setting cool and relaxing, and the nearby bike trail perfect for our daily exercise. – WatsonsWander
