The campground is situated on a peninsula that juts out into the middle of the lake, so almost all the campsites are on the water. This was a good location for us to paddle and visit Callaway Garden and FDR’s Little White House. – Nancy

Ainsworth State Park – Cascade Locks, OR
Beautiful small park on the banks of the Columbia River a few miles east of Portland. This park hosts a number of hiking trails, and is on the Historic Columbia River Highway – a great side trip if your vehicle is not too large for this twisty road. – KootenayWanderer
Ruby Mountain Campground – Buena Vista, CO
The campground host was friendly and helpful and helped us find the ideal spot for us to camp. The county road extends above and beyond the campground and provides an opportunity for riding bikes or easy hiking. – Loup407

The central location make visiting Vermilion Cliffs NM, North Rim of the Grand Canyon or Lake Powell and Page, AZ a breeze. We made a day trip to Zion NP from here. – STHolland
Forest Road 4610 – Bend, OR
It’s about 3 miles to Bend so it’s close enough to be convenient yet far enough out to be relaxing. We loved this spot and all that is offered. – TinCanPlan
Waylon Jennings RV Park – Littlefield, TX
We couldn’t believe it at first but it was a 100% free with electric AND water hook ups. We slept really great and I was even able to go to Ace Hardware 100ft away in the morning to fix something on the camper. – americanfrolic

Soap Creek Corral – Gunnison, CO
Soapcreek is a very secluded campground. The tent area and a couple of rv sites are next to Soapcreek and are great. Soapcreek is a nice stream with cool clear water. – Travis

Wow! Ok, if you haven’t been to see Maroon Bells, you are missing out and it needs to be on your bucket list. If you’re camping, you can’t camp any closer to the Maroon Bells than this campground unless you’re backpacking. North Rim Campground, Grand Canyon National Park – North Rim, AZ
This was an incredible site at an incredible campground. Our site (14) and the sites on either side bordered the trail that goes along the rim of the Grand Canyon. Amazing. – goofus deluxe

Golden Hill State Park – Barker, NY
Golden Hills is a small New York State Park right on the shores of Lake Ontario. It is in the middle of nowhere, which adds to its charm. If you need a place to relax and unwind with a spectacular view, you can’t beat this place. – CeeGee
Bolar Mountain Recreation Area – Covington, WV
This campground is on the banks of Lake Moomaw, a gem of a large lake in western Virginia, surrounded by NF land. – Tin Can Annie
Shad Landing – Snow Hill, MD
Shad Landing is one of two campgrounds within Pocomoke River State Park, and it is absolutely lovely. All of the sites are on the outside perimeter of a large circle, and each was spacious offering great site separation and privacy. – Technomadia
