Los Angeles Camping

By Campendium

There are not a lot of options for RV camping in and around Los Angeles, but depending on what part of the city you need to be in, you’re not totally out of luck.

If you’re planning on going to Universal Studios or the Getty Museum, Balboa RV Park in Van Nuys is conveniently located where the 405 freeway meets the 101.

Balboa RV Park is a little cramped, so if you’re looking for an experience that’s a little closer to nature, you might prefer Malibu Creek State Park where you can camp in the same location that Planet of the Apes and M*A*S*H was filmed; but be warned, the campground has a 9pm curfew so you’ll need to plan accordingly.

dockweiler

You have two options for camping on the west side of Los Angeles. Dockweiler RV Park is a county park on the beach located right next to the runway at Los Angeles International Airport AND a water treatment plant. That means Dockweiler can be noisy and stinky, but it is convenient to Santa Monica and Venice Beach.

Your other option for camping on the coast near Los Angeles is Malibu RV Park. It’s a bit farther north than Dockweiler, but doesn’t have the noise or the potential smells.

Los Angeles is a BIG city, so what if you have business on the east side of town? Well, the East Shore RV Park in San Dimas is far out there, but it’s probably your best bet for RV camping on the east side of Los Angeles.
