We spent the past 6 weeks scouting campgrounds from Mesa Verde National Park to Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.

mancos-state-park
Mancos State Park is a beautiful campground located about 20 minutes from the entrance to Mesa Verde National Park. If you want to be closer to the National Park, you might consider Ancient Cedars Mesa Verde RV Resort. If you want to be in the park, your option is Morefield Campground but the reviews are mixed.

junction-creek-campground
Junction Creek Campground is big rig friendly and convenient to Durango.

sultan-camping-area
While in Silverton, we loved our spot at Sultan Camping Area, and would recommend any of the nearby Kendall, Anvil and Golden Horn free dispersed camping areas. If you want to have a campsite with a fee, check out South Mineral.

amphitheater-campground
If you don’t mind dry camping, Amphitheater Campground in Ouray, CO has fantastic views of the San Juan Mountains.

peach-valley-ohv-recreation-area
OHVers will love camping in Montrose, CO. Peach Valley OHV Recreation Area has free camping and numerous OHV trails in the Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area.

south-rim-campground-black-canyon-gunnison
South Rim Campground is the perfect home-base for visiting Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. If you’re in a tent of a truck camper, East Portal is even better!

stevens-creek-campground
Great for big rigs with fantastic views of the lake, Stevens Creek Campground is a great spot for dry camping in Gunnison, CO.

crested-butte
Washington Gulch Road in Crested Butte during wildflower season is a must for anyone who enjoys dispersed camping.

silver-dollar-campground
Silver Dollar Campground is nestled in the San Isabel National Forest next to Turquoise Lake in Leadville, CO.

prospector-campground
While there are many options for camping around the Dillion Reservoir, Prospector Campground was our favorite with large sites and lake views.

reverends-ridge-campground
Reverends Ridge Campground in Golden Gate Canyon State Park is close to Black Hawk, CO but still feels like you’re getting away from it all..

roaring-fork-arapaho-bay-campground
If you stay in Granby, CO while visiting Rocky Mountain National Park, Roaring Fork Campground in Arapaho National Recreation Area has it all. Come in the winter and camp for free in sites Sites 1-7!
