On the Road: Port Townsend to Oakland

route
It’s been awhile since we’ve reported on where we’ve been scouting. This fall we’ve covered quite a bit of the Pacific Northwest down into California. Below are some highlights.

fort-worden-state-park
Our top picks for visiting Port Townsend, WA are the very popular Point Hudson Marina & RV Park which is walking distance from town, and Fort Worden State Park. Fort Worden is a former military fort and was a shooting location in the movie Officer and a Gentleman.

graves-creek-campground
Graves Creek Campground in Olympic National Park is a great base for exploring the many trails in the Quinault Rain Forest.

ocean-city-rv-resort
If you’re looking for full hookups on the coast of Washington, Ocean City RV Resort in Ocean City, WA is a tidy little campground with friendly management.

clackamette-rv-park
Clackamette RV Park in Oregon City, OR is just 30 minutes south of Portland and offers some sites with water views.

seven-feathers-rv-resort
Even though we’ve previously stayed at Seven Feathers RV Resort in Canyonville, OR, it’s still our favorite option in the area.

bailey-cove-campground
Bailey Cove Campground is our pick near Lake Shasta. It’s convenient to the 5 freeway and Lake Shasta Caverns.

anthony-chabot
In the Oakland area, our favorite spot was actually where we were camping. Anthony Chabot Regional Park feels like it’s out in the wilderness, when it’s only 20 minutes from civilization.
