RV Trip: Seattle to San Diego

When planning an RV road trip itinerary, you don’t want to your drive days to be too long. Somewhere between two hours and four hours is the sweet spot for keeping drivers and passengers happy.

With winter being “snowbird season,” (the time of year when people want to go south and escape the cold), we thought it would be fitting to do a sample itinerary for Seattle to San Diego.

Seattle to Champoeg State Park
Distance: 200 miles

Champoeg State Park is very popular, so if you’re planning to camp here on a weekend, be sure to make a reservation.

Champoeg to The Point RV Park at Emigrant Lake
Distance: 269 miles

Both The Point RV Park at Emigrant Lake and Ashland, Oregon are worth the visit, so try to schedule more than one night here.

Emigrant Lake to Sycamore Grove Campground
Distance: 168 miles

The Sycamore Grove Campground is good for a one night stop. Stretch your legs on the walking path through old and new oak trees.

Sycamore Grove to Anthony Chabot Regional Park

Anthony Chabot Park is a great launching pad to visit San Francisco while camping in natural setting. Just remember the gate gets locked at 10pm.

Distance: 236 miles

Jump over to the 101 south and avoid the big trucks and potholes on the 5. First stop, Pismo Beach.

Distance: 151 miles

Reserve a waterfront site at Malibu RV Park and enjoy spectacular sunsets on the Pacific.

San Diego – 157 miles
