By Campendium

Two hundred twenty six campgrounds received 5 star reviews in April. Check out the highlights below:

Magnolia Beach – Port Lavaca, TX

Free beach camping. Enjoyed our stay at Magnolia Beach. There’s a large open lot area next to the water, and an area closer to the restrooms/showers with some covered picnic pavilions. – traveling_flipflops

Picacho Peak State Park – Picacho, AZ

We loved our couple of nights at Picacho Peak State Park. The campsites have beautiful views of Picacho Peak and the surrounding desert. – A Streamin Life

Ken’s Lake Campground – Moab, UT

The view from the campground of the La Sal mountains and the red rock cliffs is perfect. The location just outside of town meant it was quiet and dark at night even during the busy weekend. – RidingRoadsAndTrails

Lower Gemini Bridges – Moab, UT

Camp among red rock spires away from the crowd. This is the perfect camping spot for high clearance 4×4 small rigs. – Road it up

Goodenough Creek Campground – McCammon, ID

This is a small campground with only 5 sites. The road is in good condition, except for a couple of minor potholes. The scenery on the drive in and out is beautiful. – Live Small Ride Free

Cattlemen Trail – Silver City, NM

Nice, quiet, clean spot. Do need to share with the free range cattle, but they don’t bother you at all. – Debs

Mecca Flat Campground – Madras, OR

The road is rough and I white-knuckled it as my expert driver slowly took us 1 mile+ in with our 30′ 5th wheel. But once here, it’s serene, quiet, nicely kept campsites. – Jammajo

Red Top Mountain State Park – Cartersville, GA

Many great spots overlooking the lake. I work from the road so loved the great 4G connection and ability to throw a hammock up and work over the lake. – Emily

Loy Butte Road – Sedona, AZ

Most days (depending on wind direction) a fleet of hot air balloons went by overhead about a half hour after sunrise, and near the end of our stay one landed right in our boondocking area! – Life Rebooted

Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park – Niceville, FL

Great location for hiking, biking, boating, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing! Close to Destin beaches, shopping, and tourist attractions! – Waldo’s Wanderings

Klondike Bluff Road – Moab, UT

All in all, this was a really nice place to stay. Free is awesome. It was clean, too. Tons of cool rocks in crazy colors all around. I’d definitely come back! – Rv Chickadee

Virgin Valley Campground – Denio, NV

Lots to see in the preserve when the weather is nicer. Great stop for us in cold, snowy weather. And free! – BruceM

River Forks Park & Campground – Gainesville, GA

The views are my favorite part of River Forks. I doubt there’s a site that doesn’t have a good lake view, and the entire park is nicely shaded. – emmatheairstream

Virgin Dam – Virgin, UT

It is right above the dam, so you hear the constant roaring of water over the damn, like being right next to a waterfall. – CootersOnTheGo

Tuttle Creek Campground – Lone Pine, CA

You’d have to work very hard to find a site with a bad view in this campground. – Bob Martel

Pioneer Pass Campground – Globe, AZ

Amazing free camping! I would stay here again without hesitation! – danieleric2

Death Valley Inn & RV Park – Beatty, NV

On my way to Death Valley National Park and decided to stay a night at this campground. The campground is quiet nice with full hook-ups. – Bob Ide

Hillsborough River State Park – Thonotosassa, FL

The best part of the park is the river. The slow moving water is crystal clear with lots of moss-draped trees and plenty of opportunities to see wildlife. – WatsonsWander

Willow Springs Trail – Moab, UT

Great spot on the weekdays! Didn’t know if the 34 foot motorhome would actually make it. But it did and it was well worth the grand expanse and beautiful campsite. – Nanci

Seven Points Campground – Mount Juliet, TN

Once you get parked, break out the outdoor chairs and a cold one. As others have said, this is a beautiful Park. – Laura Montgomery

Corvina Beach Campground – Mecca, CA

Great spot for dry camping and will definitely stay here again during the cooler months. – Gio
