Beautiful lake front sites, plus two sites tucked up against aspens, away from the lake. The lake is stocked for fishing. There are some simple trails you can mountain bike out there, with great views. – Brenda & Linus
Moonshine Creek Campground | RV Park – Sylva, NC
We are glad we finally got to camp in this beautiful valley private campground in the Smokey Mountains. Lots of attractions and small towns to visit including Bryson City and Asheville less than an hour away. – Ted F
Beartrap Road North | BLM – Norris, MT
The sites are all right on the river and have steps going down to the water. It’s fun to sit and watch all the rafters float by your site all day long. – packjen
DeWeese Reservoir | Dept. Fish & Wildlife – Westcliffe, CO
This is a state wildlife area, so it’s free IF you have a fishing or hunting license. The night sky is so deep and clear you can easily see the milky way and all the constellations you thought you’d forgotten from high school astronomy class. – DagsInACaravan
Western Big Meadow Road Camping Area | Sequoia National Forest – Hume, CA
Close to the north end of Sequoia and the entrance to King’s Canyon. Probably the most beautiful campsite I’ve stayed at! – Jrduffy
Henrys Lake State Park – Island Park, ID
There is plenty of wild life, great hiking right in the park, plenty of hiking near the park within a 20 minute drive, Yellowstone at your doorstep, kayak rentals at the main office, a Junior Ranger program, great friendly staff, and a beautiful lake that you can fish in or other water sports. – RoamSchoolingAdventures
F.D. Roosevelt State Park – Pine Mountain Valley, GA
This park is perfection. Many lakefront and lakeview sites. Great site spacing. Hiking trail from campsites to Liberty Pool is a masterpiece. – Tim
Keno Camp | Utility Owned Recreation Facility – Keno, OR
Keno Camp, about 14 miles from Klamath Falls, was the perfect spot to spend a few days in preparation for heading to the Crater Lake area. This is a lovely park with lots of bird song. A doe and two fawns appeared most afternoons. – LoveLifeOnTheRoad
Valdez Glacier | City Park – Valdez, AK
Best views of glacier and icebergs in the lake! Also had a Verizon MIFI jetpak worked great for those of you who work on the road! – Geegee
Pioneer Park | County Park – Ogema, WI
Overall great, free, site with a bathroom and a good place if you have children because of the playground. – Roots
Wagner Lake | Huron National Forest – Rose City, MI
Dry camping in a national forest. Quiet, peaceful, secluded. I didn’t check out the amenities at all — there might have been vault toilets, but that was it. – SarahWynde
Grand Valley OHV Area | BLM – Grand Junction, CO
All hell broke loose around 12:30 AM with the local youth putting on quite a display. Road races, firearms and fireworks. Right on. It was a show! Overall it’s a five star because it’s free! – oldmangranite
Beaver Lake Campground | RV Park – Custer, SD
Great location – nicely spaced out sites, many at different elevation to their neighbors. Located about 5 minutes out of Custer, so close to most things. – piston9
Seeley Lake Campground | Lolo National Forest – Seeley Lake, MT
If you’re looking for a fun environment with a lot of nice people and water activities, this is definitely the place to be. – Blake
Tunnel Mountain Trailer Court | Banff National Park – Banff, AB, Canada
Other than the very inefficient reservation system, we loved our stay and it was worth the effort. The campground is convenient to the town of Banff and there are shuttle buses available to take you there. – ketah777
Port of Anacortes Cap Sante Marinaa | City Park – Anacortes, WA
We love Port camping- being close to all the boats. There were a lot of open spaces to camp, and we are within walking distance to downtown Anacortes, grocery stores, restaurants, and trails. – Linda and John
Henry Lake Campground | Ottawa National Forest – Marenisco, MI
We arrived to an empty campground and it stayed that way for a week! Beautiful northern Michigan Lake. Sites are large wooded, plenty of shade. – RusticBob
Harper’s Corner Road | BLM – Dinosaur, CO
The views are spectacular – there is no other word. If you can, park facing out across the valley, and enjoy panoramic vistas of the land stretching out into the distance before you. – Adventurous Way
Meadows Campground | Routt National Forest – Steamboat Springs, CO
We were able to take prime picking of spots, and after running speed tests around the whole place, we picked Site 8, which also happened to be one of the few pull throughs. About 30 minutes to Steamboat, it was a beautiful place to camp. – Jakki&Ron
Twelvemile Beach Campground | Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore – Grand Marais, MI
The sites are large and very private. You are steps from the beach and the sunsets are amazing. We loved this campgrounds, it was peaceful and off grid. – Treen
Sheps Canyon Primitive Campsites | Sheps Canyon Recreation Area – Hot Springs, SD
There have been a lot of reviews stating that this place is great and I agree with them. There are 17 sites indicated by a fire ring. At least 5 of those sites are big-rig friendly. Overall it’s a great find! – Chris
Jackson Island | Tennessee Valley Authority – Spring City, TN
We stayed for 2 nights and were pleasantly surprised to find large sites – each with its own spectacular view! Easy to maneuver for big rigs and very quiet atmosphere. – The Roads We Roam
