5 Star Campground Reviews – July 2017

By Campendium

Three hundred sixty two campgrounds received 5 star reviews in July. Check out the highlights below:

Dugway Recreation Site – Sinclair, WY

Great stay right off the highway. Very peaceful place with wildlife and a river. Will be back. – Reese’s On Recess

Chief Mountain West – Caliente, NV

Excellent dry camping location. During our visit on July 3rd we were the only ones there. Super quiet since you’re far from Route 93. – John LV

Dogwood Campground – Rimforest, CA

The staff were very friendly and let us know about nature talks, hiking trails, and the best spot in camp to view the 4th of July fireworks over Lake Arrowhead. Can’t wait for our return visit! – DonutPatrol

Schoodic Woods Campground – Winter Harbor, ME

One of my favorite places. Away from the crowds of Bar Harbor but close enough if you need to visit. Peaceful, private, large sites. Hate to leave. – James

Echo Bluff State Park – Eminence, MO

Located in the heart of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, this park serves as a perfect basecamp for exploring the best of the Missouri Ozarks, with beautiful springs and river ways nearby. – Kerri

Fourmile Recreation Area – Buena Vista, CO

The 4th spot on the right, up at the top of a hill was AMAZING. Views for MILES both directions. Huge, open area. Incredible. I wanted to stay here forever. – Lena

Collier Memorial State Park – Chiloquin, OR

Our site backed up to a river and we were able to launch a kayak right from there. There was also a trail behind our site that went along the river to the Visitor Center and Logging Museum which is worth a visit. – ketah777

Lazy Lions Campground – Graniteville, VT

Lazy Lions RV is a small campground with plenty of shade, grass, clean restrooms and an easy check in. It is also the closest park we could find to visit friends in Montpelier which was a 15 minute drive away. – Lynda

Canyon Rim Campground – Daggett, UT

This is a small little campground right off the Red Canyon road. I chose a more open site for the solar. And it is truly right on the edge of the canyon. – Stan

Galbraith Lake – North Slope, AK

Galbraith Lake Campground was a gem on the famous “Haul Road” on our journey up the Dalton Highway from Fairbanks to Deadhorse. – PauHanaTravels

North Fork Big Wood River – Ketchum, ID

Just past the East Fork trailhead, at 6,800 feet and not far before the end of the road we found the perfect riverside location. Our nearest neighbor was about a quarter mile downstream, out of sight and out of mind. – Marc Guido

Terry Canyon – Silver City, NM

We enjoyed evening campfires, a symphony of birds, the vanilla scent of the ponderosa on the breezes, and even our hammock in between a couple of the trees. From here, we explored the Gila Cliff Dwellings, Lake Roberts, and Silver City. – Brake for Nature

Goblin Valley BLM – Green River, UT

Forget camping within the park – this BLM land is just 5 minute drive away from the entrance, and allows you to camp right up close and personal to some truly unique rock structures (goblins!). – Jean-Claude Ram Van

Hartt Island RV Resort – Fredericton, NB, Canada

This popular campground has not only a waterpark pool area, a mini golf course, rock climbing, food trucks, it is situated on the beautiful Saint John River, so kayaking and canoeing. – Teresa

Chris Flat Campground – Coleville, CA

What I love about Chris Flat are the tall pines and the sound of rushing water. This place was a treat and I’ll definitely be here again before the season is out if I find myself up 395 again! – Kate @ MotorhomeOnTheRange

Sacred White Shell Mountain – Mosca, CO

Sacred White Shell Mountain is a beautiful BLM site located 8 miles south of Great Sand Dunes National Park. This area is known as a hotspot for UFO & paranormal activity – ENJOY! – Drivin’ & Vibin’

Volcanic Tablelands – Bishop, CA

A rock climbing paradise, this vast volcanic landscape is a dazzling high desert jewel showcasing the imposing Eastern Sierra Mountain Range. – Michael & Imkelina

Camano Island State Park – Camano Island, WA

We stayed in site 9 which has sweeping views of the Puget Sound and Whidbey Island and even Mt. Rainier on a clear day which we were lucky enough to enjoy. – NoelJoy

Yellowstone Holiday RV Campground & Marina – West Yellowstone, MT

We love being close enough to Yellowstone to visit, but far enough away to have no chaos surrounding us. We literally planned our summer around when we could return to this campground. – Shelley

Forest Road 611 East Rim – North Rim, AZ

Never had a view from a campsite like this! So quiet and peaceful too. Perfect for a cool break from the summer heat. Only wish we could have stayed longer! – keneramirez
